Best Dota 2 Betting Site in 2024

As far as Dota 2 is concerned, GG Bet is the place to go. We cover all major games and markets, and we have been a trustworthy service provider since 2016.

Here are some of the reasons why you should choose us:

1. Live Streams

We offer live streams while the esports event is happening. As such, you no longer have to find a cable channel to watch. Some esports bettors even have to pay online to watch the events. With GG Bet, you do not have to spend extra money to watch the games where you placed your bets.

2. Esports Choices

We offer a myriad of esports selections, not just GGBet Dota 2. The most popular games we have are Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Rainbow Six, Call of Duty, and so much more.

If these games are not your cup of tea, here are some more examples:

  • Age of Empires
  • Basketball
  • Rocket League
  • Valorant
  • StarCraft II
  • Warcraft III
  • Football

As you can see, we have a lot of games that you can choose from. Some players only want to bet on championship rounds, and we realized that they tend to move on to other games once their anticipated event is over. As such, we keep on adding new games in relation to current developments in the esports industry.

3. Pre-match and Live Betting

You can bet on Dota 2 in either pre-match or live match on our site. A pre-match is a kind of bet where you place your wager before the event even starts. On the other hand, a live match is a kind of bet where you place your wager during the game.

A pre-match is a safe way of betting, as the odds will stay intact before the game even commences. However, in live betting, the odds will constantly change according to what is happening in the game.

The choice is yours—if you are looking for a safe bet, then pre-match is the way to go. However, if you want more action and excitement, live betting is what we suggest.

4. High Odds

We offer high odds for highly anticipated events. It is not unusual to see odds on our site higher than 5.00. right now, we even have a match bet as high as 4.59. Of course, the higher the odds, the more money you win.

Of course, odds are always based on statistics. We cannot always put high odds for all underdogs. Regardless of these, however, we will never go below that odds of 1.00.

5. Generous Bonuses

On top of everything, we offer many types of bonuses to new and old players. If you qualify for these bonuses, you can use the bonus money we gave you for Dota 2 bet. Please take note that all bonuses have terms and conditions, so make sure you read them.

We are constantly on the lookout to make our site better. If you love betting Dota 2, our site is the premier go-to of esports bettors from around the world. Registration is free—you can even access the odds without an account.

How Dota 2 Is Played

So, how do you play Dota 2? If you are new to esports betting, we can tell you right now that the Dota online game is one of the biggest in the world. In this section, we will keep you up to speed and help you understand the mechanics.

Dota 2 is what we call a MOBA game, which stands for Multi-Player Online Battle Arena. It is a sequel to DotA, or Defense of the Ancients.

In Dota 2, players engage in matches between two teams. Each team has five players, and they occupy and defend a base on the map.

Each player controls a character, which we call a “hero.” In Dota 2, there are 122 characters that you can choose from, so pick one that suits your personality or game style.

A player gains experience points in the game, or what gamers call XP. They can also find and earn items that boost their abilities, making their characters more powerful.

The team’s goal is to destroy the opponent’s base, which is called an “Ancient.” An Ancient is a large structure that each team must protect.

Why Is Dota 2 Popular?

Dota 2 is popular because it is a team game. One important aspect of the MOBA industry is cooperation and socialization. You can sit with your friends and play together, and you can also connect with other players from around the world.

Secondly, it is a popular game because it is a strategy game. Unlike first-person shooting games, you do not just shoot and kill your opponents. It is not a whack-and-slash game where the only thing that matters is power. To win in Dota 2, you must have a tactical approach to defeat your enemies.

The third and final reason is that it is a derivative of WarCraft. Most of the heroes you choose are from the Warcraft game, such as Orcs and Elves. The old players and fans of Warcraft eventually shifted to Dota 2 to allow them to play with others.

What Is Dota Skin Betting?

Skin betting is a wager that involves virtual goods. These goods are often cosmetic in nature. They do not impact the power of the hero or character. An example of skin is clothing or a cool-looking gun or ax. Again, these skins do not add abilities—they are only for cosmetic purposes.

In Dota, people use virtual currency to find fantastic clothing and items that make their characters look unique. Unfortunately, sometimes, these skins are hard to find.

Since they are rare, there is a demand for them. Many skins are for sale. You must buy in-game currency from the game developer and then use that in-game currency to buy the skin. Once you make that purchase, you cannot convert that into cash again.

When players buy a skin, it gets added to their library. Then, they can bet that skin. If they do, the skin is taken off the library and then transferred to the library of the player who wins.

For some time, only the game developers could transfer the skin from one player to another. Today, esports sites like us can do it.

How to Start Playing Dota 2

To help you get started, we have a simple guide here that you can use.

  • First of all, install Dota 2 on your PC. It is free to play, and you can get the installer from Steam. Choose a character; there are 122 characters, so you must read through each of them.
  • Next, play the tutorial. Dota 2 comes with a free tutorial that helps you understand how it all works. In this tutorial, you will learn the tricks and abilities of characters and how you can activate them.
  • Play with bots; before playing against real people, our advice is to play with the Dota 2 AI. These are aggressive opponents, and you will gain a lot of experience from them.
  • Lastly, use the in-game manual. Take the time to read the in-game guides. In the upper left corner of your screen, you will see a book. That is the in-game guide. It has a guide for every hero, and you can explore different builds for your character.

Tournaments with Huge Prize Pools

If you bet Dota 2, you must know the ropes. The game has evolved into something massive that it has also become so complicated. There are things like DPC points, tournament hierarchies, and leagues. In this section, we will tell you everything you need to know about it.

DPC Points

DPC stands for Dota Pro Circuit. It is a point system rewarded to teams if they participate in Valve-sponsored events. It is not something that you earn by playing Dota 2 on your computer.

The top teams that have the most DPC Points will receive an invitation from Valve to an event called The International—the most prestigious event in Dota 2.

The DPC Point system was established in 2017. Prior to that, players and teams got a direct invitation from Valve. At that time, you get an invitation if you are good. DPC in itself is a competition. To participate, you must go to the official website of the company.

In short, DPC is the competition itself. You can call it something like the NBA. It is a league where teams participate in competing. However, unlike the NBA, anyone can submit a registration in the DPC so they can be officially recognized as competitors.

You can register as a player; you will find the registration details on your player page on the DPC website. After you register, teams can now invite you to their roster. From there, you can begin your career as a Dota 2 player in the DPC.

Once the teams fight in the DPC (again, think of it as NBA), they earn points if they win. The teams that earn the most DPC points get an invitation to The International.

Unlike the NBA, there are leagues in the DPC. These leagues are the Majors and Regional. The teams that compete in these leagues.

There are six regional leagues, and these are:

  • North America
  • South America
  • Europe
  • CIS
  • China
  • Southeast Asia

These leagues are also called regions, and there will be an Upper and Lower Division in each league. There are eight teams in each bracket, which form a total of 96 teams in the DPC.

In Dota 2, there is a thing called a Tour. Each season in the DPC has three tours. These are Fall, Winter, and Spring. As teams play in these tours or events, they earn DPC Points. The end of the tour is what they call a Major—

It is a showdown of the teas that were not eliminated in the previous competitions.

Think of a Major as the NBA PlayOffs. The Major is an event where the final teams will be selected to participate in The International.

Regional Leagues

As mentioned earlier, there are six Regional Leagues in DPC. These are North America, South America, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, and Southeast Asia.

In each league, there are two divisions. These are the Upper Division or Division I and Lower Division or Division II. The teams in the Lower Division are bottom teams. They are emerging teams that have the potential to become champions one day.

You must be in the Upper Division to qualify in the Majors. At the end of the season, the top two teams in the Lower Division will be promoted in the Upper Division. At the same time, the top two teams in the Upper Division will qualify for the Majors.

On the other hand, the bottom two teams in the Upper Division will be relegated to the Lower Division. They will get demoted and are consequently replaced by the top two teams in the Lower Division.

Winning teams are determined according to the DPC points that they earn. On top of that, they also get to win money from the prize pool.

The Majors

The Majors is the pathway to becoming champions. Each season concludes with this event. In the Major, 18 teams compete from all the Regional League.

The math here is a little confusing. One would assume that since there are six regions, there will be 12 teams participating in the Major. This is not the case. Not all regions have the same allocation. Here are the slots per region:

Western Europe 4 Slots
Eastern Europe 3 Slots
China 4 Slots
North America 2 Slots
Southeast Asia 3 Slots
South America 2 Slots

In the Majors, teams will play twice. It is an elimination round. In DPC parlance, it is also called the Wildcard format or the Wildcard Stage.

The winners of this format will then move to the Group Stage. In the Group Stage, the bottom two teams are eliminated. The rest of the teams will compete in a Division II bracket elimination round.

All games are critical because the teams must earn DPC Points. Even if they did not win in the Regional tours, they still have a chance to make it in the International if they win in the Majors.

At the end of the Majors, the top 12 teams that have the most DPC points will qualify for The International.

The International

The International is the championship round in the DPC. It is the grand finals where 12 teams will duke it out. The prize pool varies every year, as it has dependencies on sponsorship and earnings of the DPC.

To give you an idea, here is a list of the historical prize pools for DPC in millions of US dollars:

  • 2011 – 1.6
  • 2012 – 1.6
  • 2013 – 2.87
  • 2014 – 10.93
  • 2015 – 18.43
  • 2016 – 20.77
  • 2017 – 24.69
  • 2018 – 25.53
  • 2019 – 34.33
  • 2020 – 40.02

Once the grand champion is announced, the season is over, and it all begins again. From time to time, DPC will open the door for new teams to join.

Current Odds for Dota 2 Online Betting

For Dota2 bet, there are two types that we offer. These are the pre-match and live betting odds. To help you understand, we will explain how each works.

Pre-Match Betting

In pre-match betting, you choose a team that you think is going to win. You wager this bet before the match begins, and the odds will not change.

Let us say that two teams will compete, and these teams are BZM and Sumail. In GGBet Dota, you will see something like this:

  • BZM: 2.66
  • Sumail: 1.45

The numbers there are what you call the odds or the line. If you place $100 on BZM and they win, you will get $100 x 2.66 = $266. It means that your profit is $166. On the other hand, a bet of $100 on Sumail will give you back $145, with a profit of $45.

Why is it like this? Why are they not equal? It is because Sumail is a heavy favorite. Based on our analysis, they are likely to win, so the prize is smaller. BZM is the underdog, so the gamblers who place a Dota bet on them have a higher risk of losing their money—the higher the risk, the greater the reward.

There are other markets for pre-match betting, such as the first map or second map. It just means that in a series of competitions, you are betting on who is going to win.

Live Betting

The other kind of Dota2 betting is live betting. In it, you place your bets on events that can potentially happen while the game is in progress. For example, you can bet on which team is likely to win the next map or what the final score is going to be on certain stages in the match.

Live betting is complicated, and it is fast-moving. You need to have a thorough knowledge of Dota esports to succeed in this kind of gambling. Also, you cannot bet here without watching the game as it is happening. Fortunately for you, we do offer live streaming of the eSport Dota 2 on our website.

Is Pre-Match Better Than Live Betting?

If you are starting out, pre-match betting on Dota bets is the right way to go. If you do this, you have the time to assess the teams before you make your pick.

Live betting is best for experienced gamers. If you have been playing Dota 2 for a while, or you completely understand the game’s intricacies, then you are in a position to make decisions on the fly.

Special Dota 2 Betting Markets

When people talk of eSport Dota and markets, some get confused. A market simply refers to anything that a betting site offers. In essence, these are the types of bets that you can make. Dota 2 has so many betting markets, which means there are many ways to bet.

To help you get started, read the different betting markets below.

  • Head-to-Head. This market is the most common type of bet. You bet on the team you think will win the series. In esports, teams can play several times a day. So make sure that you are betting in the right game.
  • Game Time. The Game Time market means you are betting whether the game will be over at a particular minute. You can bet longer or shorter than an agreed time. There is no time limit in Dota 2. The game only ends when the base of one team is destroyed. In this market, a betting site may offer a bet based on one hour game time. What this means is that in assumption, the game will be over in an hour. In this case, you wager whether the game will end before one hour or over one hour.
  • Race to Kills. This kind of market is usually applied to games where players earn points, like how many kills they made in a round before a winner is declared. In Dota 2, players do not get points. However, the number of kills that a team has made s far is a good predictor of who will win.
You bet which team will reach a specified number of kills in this market. For example, if the race to kill goal is 10, you predict the team who kills ten opponents first.
  • Objective Bets. The main objective of Dota 2 is to destroy the Ancient or base of the opponent. However, there are other mini objectives that a team can accomplish. For example, you can bet on who starts breaking the base first. Another objective is having the most kills, or how gets to draw first blood or first kill.
  • Handicaps. You will always see handicaps on Dota 2 bets. If you think a team is going to win by a large margin, you have the option to put a handicap on them. What it does is increase your Dota money if you win.

For example, you can say that a team will win by one more game in a series. So, if the series is the best of 7, the winning team must win four times. Here are the possible outcomes for the winning team:

  • 4:3
  • 4:2
  • 4:1
  • 4:0

The number 4 in 4:3 means that the team won four times, and the other team lost three times (total of seven games). In a series of 7, it is always a race of who wins four times first.

So, if you think that a team can win with one game more than the possible outcome of 4:3, you can bet on the handicap 4:2, 4:1, or 4:0. Essentially, you are betting that they will win by a wide margin—in this case, a margin of one without completing the game series.

Factors for Success

Now that you know how to play Dota online, what bets you can make, and how to read odds, what must you do to succeed and win in your esports bets? Below are some tips that will improve your winning odds in Dota 2.

1. Watch Dota All the Time

It may sound obvious, but it is something you must do. It is nearly impossible to make a decent or reasonable bet in physical sports if you do not know the teams. For example, how can you bet between Lakers and Spurs if you do not even watch basketball?

There are many Dota matches and tournaments. As you keep watching, you will get to understand different strategies. You will also get to know players, teams, and their underlying strengths and weaknesses.

Like physical sports, team members can move from time to time. If this happens, there will be a change in the team’s performance and their likelihood of winning. Watching games will also help you understand what the various Dota markets mean.

2. Study the Teams and Their Stats

Now, placing bets Dota 2 is not about being a fan. You make bets because you want to make money. Even if you are rooting for a particular team, you must never bet on them if they are not likely to win.

The only reliable method to determine potential winners is by analyzing their stats. Whenever you are looking at a Dota betting line or odds, pay attention to the teams. Then, do your due diligence—research their past performances.

3. Study Live Betting

A pre-match bet is safe. However, it does not give you a lot of opportunities to make money. Even if we offer high odds, the odds never change. The problem happens if a player gets sick, and what used to be a high likelihood of winning becomes a losing proposition.

In live bets, you have many opportunities to recoup your losses. Since the odds and markets change in real-time, you have the option to place bets that you think are much more favorable to you.

4. Get to Know the Game Formats

Dota 2 has many leagues and divisions. It will help if you know what these formats are. Do this so you know when the games are happening and who the competing teams are. If you know the schedule and the current situation, you will never miss any good bet.

Real Money and Free Bets on Dota 2

At GGBet, we offer many ways to make Dota 2 gambling exciting. For example, we do have bonuses and promotions. If you qualify, you may also get no deposit bonuses where you can bet without depositing your own money.

Below are some examples of the bonuses we offer:

  • Oga Dota Pit – deposit $10 and a 200% match-up bonus capped at $200.
  • Free Bets – activate your account, make a deposit, and get extra money from us.
  • The International – get many types of promotions during the “The International” series.
  • Cashback – get 10% cashback for your net losses in a given time.

All bonuses have terms, and they vary from one promotion to another. The most common bonus term that comes in all promotions is the wagering requirement. It is a number expressed as a multiplier. For example, 30x.

What it means is that you have to wager the money we gave you 30x the amount. If the bonus we gave is $100, you must bet $3,000 before we can allow you to withdraw the winnings from it.

Of course, you can only accumulate a total of $3,000 wagered if you are consistently winning. Also, there is a deadline for you to meet this requirement. The deadline varies, but the most common is seven days.

Take note that bonuses are only available to registered members. You can only register for membership on our site. To do this, click on the sign-up link on this page.
